Invitation to teachers in Europe

The European Geosciences Union EGU kindly invites for the nineth time European teachers to the workshop 'Geosciences Information For Teachers' (GIFT). The workshop takes place during the EGU General Assembly 2011 in the Austria Center in Vienna. The participation and accomodation in the workshop as well as parts of or the full travel (depending on the price) are granted for about 60 science teachers in Europe. The EGU General Assembly is the largest conference in Geosciences in Europe and attracts every year thousands of scientists from all over the world.

Registration is now possible for the workshop in April 2011.

We strongly recommend to apply before the deadline of December, 3rd, 2010.

The language of the workshop is English.
 

This workshop offers teachers of secondary schools an opportunity to upgrade their knowledge in geophysical themes and to shorten the time between discovery and text books.
The workshop program combines scientific presentations on current research by leading scientists participating to the EGU General Assembly, with hands-on activities presented by science educators that can be used by the teachers in their classrooms. Also, teachers are encouraged to give short presentations of special activities they have developed themselves.

Registration to GIFT 2011 and the EGU General Assembly (Please inform yourself about the conference programme 2011) is free for the selected teachers and travel/living grants are available. Accepentence of the grants and/or free registration implies for the teacher the obligation to attend the entire workshop and to provide a feedback of its effectiveness.
