Exercise:

The figure below shows how phytoplankton growth changes with the season.  Work out which box represents which season and then try to connect each of the four boxes with the appropriate season on the central graph. 

The green circles represent phytoplankton and the black circles represent nutrients.

Exercise:

Look at the diagram and have another look at the page on phytoplankton growth in the Ocean Nutrients section. Write your own summary entitled "The seasonal cycle of phytoplankton growth".
