1 Education and Outreach

Session on science driven education and outreach efforts in climate and environmental research

2 ESPERE General Assembly

General Assembly of the members of the ESPERE Association

Please visit the Environmental Education website

1 - Education and Outreach

Background:

There are several international education & outreach efforts related to climate and environmental science networks and larger research projects (clusters of many institutes).
This session focusses mainly on activities for schools and the public or for teachers further education (not on the education of PhD students). Between some of these efforts cooperations are already established, in other cases programs and resources are not well known and cooperation is poor. The session aims on information and preparing the basis for future cooperation, in order to achieve more efficient educational efforts in Europe and beyond.

Target group:

Scientists who are active in education and outreach for schools and the public or who are interested to become active or would like to inform themselves.

Activities:

A) Information and plenum (open session)

Open session on eduction and outreach efforts organised by scientists for non-scientists. Major outreach efforts should be presented in short oral talks. The overall situation should be discussed in an open plenum with contributions from the audience.
Please inform us as soon as possible but not later than Nov., 15th 2005 if you would like to participate in the open session, so that we can estimate the required size of the room.

B) Workshop of project leaders (registration requested)

Leaders of International educational projects are invited to meet in a workshop in order to exchange ideas and experiences and to agree on cooperations. We kindly ask you to inform us if you work in larger outreach projects in Europe or in other continents and would like to participate in the workshop. We would like to prepare for the workshop in advance. Please inform us until Dec, 20th 2005.
