Visit the following website:

maps.geog.umd.edu

Click on GLOBAL - GLOBAL and then make a selection. If you click on OPEN MAP you will see the latest Gobal Web Fire Map.

You may need a bit of patience here, this is large and takes a while to load!

Exercise 1:
Zoom in to Europe and write down all places where forest fires are burning at the moment.

Exercise 2:
Choose a country or a region and search the web for newspaper articles on this topic.  What are the main reasons for forest fires? Write down what you can find out.
