What are OECD, transition and developing countries?

30 countries signed the Convention of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD. Among them are primarily the industrialised and richer countries of North America and Europe as well as Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. OECD countries have usually a high per capita energy consumption.

The list of transition countries usually includes countries of the former Warsaw Pact (also Russia) and many smaller but richer territories and countries which are not regarded as industrialised countries.

The OECD publishes the so called DAC list (DAC = development assistance committee), in which the countries are sorted by their economic state.
