Information for teachers

Material:

Download material and the worksheet + cards and overview form are offered in the ACCENT material corner for this edition.

Context and application

Geography:

For the application in the classroom two approaches are reasonable.

Transport:
The topic can be treated either in the context of "transport" or "traffic and environment". In this case first an overview is given of the transport systems in general and the share of different means of transport. The logistical and environmental problems are discussed.

Economy:
The topic can be treated in the context of economic areas (either the country or the continent). In this case an introduction is given into the economic sectors and in particular of the third sector "services". Tourism is discussed as an important economic factor in some regions.

What shall the students learn?

With the help of this edition students should be able to:

1. Identify the different types of tourism and travel.
2. Create a set of criteria for one type of tourism or travel.
3. Develop a wider view for tourism as an industry and economic sector.
4. Judge the role of tourism for transport, in particular air traffic.
5. Identify the potential climate change problems related to air traffic.
