Group work: Different travel options

Groups are formed (either partners or groups of 3 – 4 students). Each group receives one worksheet and 5 – 10 travel cards.

Download:
Worksheet – MS Word documentPDF
Travel Cards – MS Word document (3 MB) – PDF (300 KB)

( you can also write your own travel on empty cards )

Part 1: Work in groups

After choosing your three preferred trips judge the factors which may lead to a tourist deciding for a certain trip. Agree in your groups on marks from 1 – 5 (see worksheet).

Part 2: Discussion in the classroom

Note the results of your group on an overhead slide, which is passed around the classroom and filled in by one group member.

Download: master for overhead slide

Compare the results:

Did all groups come to the same conclusions? What did you disagree on the most? Can you imagine why? Which other factors are important?

Discuss in particular the environmental aspects and the consequences of air travel. Do you think air travel will become even more popular in the future? Is travelling by plane popular in your class? How do you estimate the importance of environmental factors on the decision to travel to a certain destination?
