Preparation:
The students are split into five groups, each of them assembling at one 'conference table'. Each of the groups receives the sheet 'engineers' and one person from each of the character sheets: one ambassador, one minister, one manager, one engineer, one ecologist and one consumer. These people are the participants of the conference. The choice of people for each student group is flexible but should be made in a way that positions are contradicting. Group formation may take place at the end of one lesson and the team work may start with the next lessons so that the students can prepare some arguments at home.
Team work:
Each group puts together a short energy concept in key words, considering the different positions of their character cards. One student of the group is secretary. If version 3 of the role play (mixed teams) is to be carried out afterwards two secretaries are needed. The time for the team work should be in the range of 15 - 20 mins.
Analysis:
Each group defines a speaker who presents the energy concept afterwards to the class. Students discuss which concepts are compatible and what compromises could look like.
